Yes. It slides off and washes separately, by hand or in the dishwasher. The glass is oven-safe to 500F once the jacket is off.
Will the jar break if dropped?
The jacket cushions typical kitchen and shipping drops, but borosilicate is not unbreakable. A hard drop on concrete can still crack it.
Can I use it for hot contents?
Yes. Hot honey, warm jam, fresh infusions. The silicone insulates your hand. Let contents cool slightly before capping for a tighter lid seat.
Is the lid airtight?
It seals well enough to keep contents fresh and stop spills. It is not rated for pressure canning or vacuum sealing.
