A PTFE sheet goes between the heat press and your transfer. It keeps ink and adhesive off the platen and spreads the heat so the design doesn't scorch. Buy it on a roll and cut sheets to fit your press.
Cut cover sheets from a roll
The single roll is 16 x 48 inches, which cuts into three 16 x 16 sheets for a standard 15 x 15 press. If you run a press every day, the 16 in x 50 ft roll gives you 37 sheets that size.
PTFE vs parchment paper for heat press
Parchment is cheap and works as a cover sheet, but it's single use. A PTFE sheet can be wiped off and used again, press after press. The full comparison covers FEP and silicone release paper too.
Which thickness?
Our 50 ft rolls come in .07 mm (about 3 mil) and 0.1 mm (about 4 mil). There is also a 24 in wide 50 ft roll. Thicker sheets hold up longer. Thinner sheets pass heat through a little faster.
When to use FEP instead
FEP is the clear one. It's nonstick like PTFE, but you can see through it, which helps when you need to line up a design or watch resin cure. PTFE handles more heat, so it's the one for the press. Our FEP comes as precut sheets, .05 mm thick, 500 to a pack.

Common questions
Is PTFE the same as Teflon?
Teflon is a brand name for PTFE, owned by Chemours. A PTFE sheet is the same type of material without the brand name.
Is PTFE silicone?
No. PTFE is a fluoropolymer, a different material. On a heat press, a silicone pad usually goes under the shirt and a PTFE sheet goes on top of the transfer.
Can you use parchment paper instead of a PTFE sheet?
Yes, parchment works as a cover sheet. You'll just replace it often, while a PTFE sheet can be reused.
How long does a PTFE sheet last?
Until it tears, creases badly, or builds up residue that won't wipe off. Wipe it clean between projects and store it flat.

PTFE. Use FEP when you need to see through the sheet.
