Common questions

What goes on top of a transfer during a press?

PTFE sheet. It protects the heat plate, prevents ink transfer to the platen, and gives a clean release. Reusable for hundreds of pulls.

What thickness PTFE for HTV?

5 mil is the standard. It conforms to the transfer without bunching and survives the temperature range for HTV (around 305F to 320F).

Can I use parchment paper instead of PTFE?

In a pinch, yes for one or two passes. For ongoing work, no. Parchment chars at sustained press temperatures and tears. PTFE does not.
