Food-safe, lab-tested

A 5ml (0.17oz) borosilicate jar with a black push-and-turn lid certified to ASTM D3475. It takes two distinct motions to open, which is the difference between certified child-resistant and an ordinary screw cap. The gasket keeps contents fresh and odor-sealed, and the whole jar is about the size of your thumb: 1.25 inches across, 1.5 tall.

Why this one

5ml is the useful sample size. 3ml is fiddly to fill, 10ml is oversized for a test batch. Diamond painters sort drills into these, jewelry makers store clasps and jump rings, and food artisans send out tasting samples of infusions and seasoning blends, all in a jar that a curious toddler cannot open one-handed.

Common questions

Is this jar truly child-resistant or just marketing?

The lid is ASTM D3475 certified and tested to the federal standard, 16 CFR 1700.20. The two-motion push-and-turn mechanism is the certification, not a marketing tag.

Can these be used for food storage?

Yes. Borosilicate is food-safe and does not leach. Spice samples, honey, vanilla extract, all fine. Hand-wash the lid; the glass can go in the dishwasher.

Can I get replacement lids?

Yes, individually or in small packs, so a worn gasket does not retire the jar body.

How long does the gasket seal last?

It is good for 100+ open-close cycles. With daily use, expect the seal to weaken after 6-12 months. Replacement lids are cheap.
