Custom printed silicone trivets sit at a sweet spot that not many businesses think about: they’re functional, long-lasting, and they put your brand in front of customers every time they set down a hot pot. Period. Unlike a sticker or a business card that goes in the trash, a well-made trivet stays on the kitchen counter for years. You'll thank yourself later.
If you’re looking for a promotional product that people actually keep and use, or if you’re a kitchen brand wanting to add a branded accessory line, silicone trivets are worth a serious look.

Why Do Silicone Trivets Work as Branded Products?
The answer is staying power. A branded silicone trivet has a useful lifespan of five to ten years with normal kitchen use. Compare that to other promotional items: pens run out of ink in weeks, tote bags wear out in months, and fridge magnets get covered by other magnets. A trivet stays on the counter or in the drawer and gets used multiple times a week.
Silicone also takes print beautifully. The surface accepts screen printing, debossing (pressing the design into the material), and even full-color heat transfer. A well-printed logo on a quality silicone trivet looks professional and doesn’t peel or fade with washing.
From a cost perspective, custom silicone trivets in moderate quantities (250-500 units) typically run $3-8 per unit depending on size, complexity, and print method. That’s competitive with other premium promotional items but with dramatically higher retention rates.
What Printing Methods Work Best on Silicone?
Three main methods dominate silicone printing, and each has different strengths.
From my testing, screen printing is the most common for single or two-color logos. The ink sits on the surface and bonds during curing. It’s cost-effective for larger runs and produces crisp, durable results. Colors are PMS-matched, so your brand colors come out accurate.
Debossing presses your design into the silicone surface itself. There’s no ink to wear off because the design is physical, not printed. It creates a premium, tactile feel and lasts the lifetime of the product. The tradeoff is that it’s typically single-color (the color of the silicone itself) and requires a custom mold, which adds setup cost.
When I first started, I didn't realize that heat transfer printing allows full-color, photographic-quality designs. It’s the best option for complex logos or designs with gradients. The print is durable through dishwashing but may eventually show wear after years of heavy use.
According to the Promotional Products Association International, kitchen items rank among the top five most-retained promotional products, with an average keep rate of over 12 months - significantly higher than apparel or office supplies.
What Size and Shape Should You Choose?
Standard trivet sizes range from 6 inches (good for mugs and small pots) to 10 inches (suitable for large pans and baking dishes). Round and square are the most popular shapes, but custom die-cutting allows virtually any shape.

For promotional use, 7-8 inch round or square trivets hit the sweet spot: large enough to be really useful, small enough to mail affordably. They fit in standard mailers without requiring oversized shipping. For more on this, check out our sticker making tips.
For retail or brand accessory lines, consider offering multiple sizes as a set. A two or three-piece trivet set in branded packaging makes a compelling gift item or add-on purchase. Our silicone pads and trivets collection includes various base sizes that can be customized.
How Do You Handle Minimum Order Quantities?
I've seen this mistake plenty of times - custom silicone trivets typically have minimum order quantities (MOQs) ranging from 100 to 500 units depending on the supplier and printing method. Debossed trivets with custom molds usually have higher MOQs (500+) because the mold cost needs to be amortized across units.
Screen-printed trivets on existing shapes have the lowest entry barrier - some suppliers offer as few as 100 units. This makes them accessible for small businesses testing the waters with branded products. For more on this, check out our custom trivet guide.
For very small quantities (under 100), consider using pre-made trivets with adhesive-backed custom labels or heat-applied prints. It’s less polished than direct printing but lets you test the concept without a major commitment.
What Should You Know About Food Safety and Compliance?
Any silicone trivet marketed for kitchen use should be made from FDA-approved food-grade silicone. This applies to both the silicone body and any inks or coatings used in printing.
Ask your supplier for FDA compliance documentation and material safety data sheets (MSDS) for the silicone and printing materials. If you’re selling rather than giving away trivets, you may also need to comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines for household products.
BPA-free, food-grade silicone is the standard, and any reputable supplier should be able to provide certification. If they can’t, look elsewhere.
